By becoming a member of the AEGN you are demonstrating your commitment to leadership and collaboration in the philanthropic sector. The AEGN aims to develop its membership so that when it comes to environmental grantmaking, we are constantly improving our practice and sharing our learnings and vision.
By becoming a member of the AEGN, you are also demonstrating that you understand that together we can achieve much more than acting alone.
Becoming a member also means that you will have the chance to meet with other funders who are interested in environmental grantmaking, hear about what other funders are doing and receive the most up-to-date information on environment issues and grantmaking.
Members get special discounted rates to our functions and we produce a bi-monthly newsletter and maintain a website with a members’ only section. We also hold regular lunchtime seminars, briefings, an annual conference and go on field trips that illustrate the issues we are discussing. You will access networking opportunities with other Members and opportunities for collaboration.
What our members have to say:
“Our membership of AEGN has benefited us with stimulating and highly enjoyable field trips, informative speakers, and opportunities to get to know other environmental
grantmakers. AEGN also provides some great opportunities for collaborative funding – through working groups, the website clearinghouse and conversations with other members.”
“We joined AEGN to have a link with other foundations with environmental interests and to provide input to discussions about what role philanthropy has in addressing environmental problems.”
“Our foundation joined the AEGN because the trustees think that collaboration, continuing education and learning from past mistakes is essential to improve the effectiveness of philanthropic funding. As trustees of a small foundation, with limited funds, we are also keen to make each dollar work as hard as possible, and the AEGN helps us realise this.”
“I believe it is important to be part of organisations like the AEGN to share experiences and find out what others are doing so that a small fund like ours can ensure we contribute effectively.”
