There were 10 new projects posted over May and June as well as many updates and activity on existing projects. Projects covered the issues of climate and energy, biodiversity conservation including feral animal control, marine, Indigenous land and sea management and considering the underlying mechanisms for environmental protection in Australia.
$544,750 was raised through end of financial year donations.*
*We know from conversations with members that many donations are instigated by the Clearinghouse which are not disclosed to the network but nevertheless, this is an impressive amount.
End of financial year highlights included:
- Our largest number of donations to a single project – The One EDO proposal saw huge support from many members, receiving 18 known donations totalling nearly $350,000. This amount well exceeded the amount required for the current project phase and has gone on to support the following phase.
- Saving the Reef – UNESCO World Heritage and Climate Campaign 2019‐2020 – another very popular project receiving nearly $60,000 from a group of eight AEGN members enabling Australian Marine Conservation Society to send a delegation to 43rd World Heritage Committee Meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan to discuss climate vulnerability and clean energy and meet with key people from around the world.
