Breakout 3: The purpose and power of place-based campaigning

Description: This session highlights the critical role of place-based campaigning in achieving enduring environmental outcomes and explores opportunities for philanthropy to strengthen this approach.

Place based campaigning secured iconic places in Australia that we cherish and value – Kakadu National Park, the Daintree Rainforest and the Kimberley coast.

As the fossil fuel industry, industrial-scale agriculture and other extractive development ramp up, other precious natural jewels are under threat. Place-based campaigns and initiatives are more important now than ever to protect those places we know and love and to achieve enduring protections across the country for many more places we are yet to discover.

Speakers:

Esther Abram (Facilitator)

Dr Kirsty Howey (Environment Centre NT)

Martin Pritchard (Environs Kimberley)

Jacqui Mumford (Conservation Council NSW)
