Senior Partner Support Officer at Country Needs People

Nathan Brennan works as a senior partner support officer for Country Needs People, a majority Indigenous governed, non-profit dedicated to national advocacy to strengthen and secure  Indigenous-led land and sea management.

His work focusses on growing and securing Indigenous Ranger jobs, the national Indigenous Protected Areas network, and Indigenous caring for Country work generally. His day-to-day work combines expert operations and governance advice, planning, and advocacy.

Nathan is also a passionate advocate for Indigenous-led education, environmental custodianship, and cultural revitalisation. A proud Gumbaynggirr, Bundjalung and Gamilaraay man, he helped found New South Wales’ first Aboriginal bilingual school, supporting intergenerational language transmission, and has played a key role in revitalising Gumbaynggirr language. Nathan has developed an Indigenous Sea Ranger program in Coffs Harbour and helped develop NSW first Aboriginal-led koala conservation strategy, blending cultural knowledge with Western scientific methodologies. He is also a Deadly Science ambassador, which promotes STEM access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
