DESCRIPTION:Watch\n\n\n\n\nhttps://vimeo.com/763640512\n\n\n\n\nThe Australian Land Conservation Alliance\, national peak body for private land conservation\, is hosting a delegation of US conservation practitioners on a one-month exchange\, visiting sites and sharing expertise. The initiative\, funded by US philanthropists\, aspires to build inter-continental capacity and develop the sector.   \n\n\n\nJoin the Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network (AEGN) CEO and members\, along with ALCA CEO and members and Global Stewardship Exchange delegates (either online or in Melbourne face-to-face) to hear why conservation on private land matters\, and the role of philanthropy in supporting important programs.   \n\n\n\nWe will explore two Australian case studies featuring the restoration of wetlands in south-eastern Australia (Nature Glenelg Trust) and managing Country for conservation\, sustainable agriculture and Indigenous Heritage (Gayini – Nari Nari Country\, The Nature Conservancy). Learn about the science-based and community led solutions that are addressing conservation challenges\, hearing from land managers and philanthropists.  \n\n\n\nThe objectives\, outputs and outcomes of the Global Stewardship Exchange will also be explained with background and reflections from the program lead and US funders. US philanthropists will also introduce funding networks building capacity for impact.  \n\n\n\nThe online component of the morning will run from 9:30am-11:10am (AEDT). Previously\, Amanda was the Executive Officer of the Victoria National Parks Association\, and the Head of Policy and Planning at Parks Victoria. She is also a trained and skilled facilitator of groups and regularly uses this in her current role. She has a degree in Zoology and post-graduate qualifications in Environment Studies.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDr. Gary M. Tabor\n\n\n\nPresident\, Center for Large Landscape Conservation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Gary M. Tabor is an ecologist and wildlife veterinarian based in Bozeman\, Montana USA.  He is President of the Center for Large Landscape Conservation—a support organization for large-scale conservation efforts. Gary is also Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas’ Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group which connects 1\,300 scientists across 130 countries to protect and restore ecological corridors and protected area networks through ecological connectivity. Gary has worked on behalf of large landscape conservation internationally for over 40 years on every continent except Antarctica. He co-founded the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative in the US and Canada. He facilitated the creation of Kibale National Park in Uganda.  \n\n\n\nGary is a recipient of the Australian American Fulbright Scholar award in Climate Change. He has academic affiliations with Cornell University\, the University of Wisconsin-Madison\, Colorado State University\, and the University of Queensland\, Australia. Having married an Australian (Raina Plowright Ph.D.)\, Gary used his visits Down Under to create conservation connections between the US and Australia. He served on the US board for Australia Wildlife Conservancy and is currently on the US board for Bush Heritage Australia. Gary helped catalysed the founding of the Australia Environmental Grantmakers Network.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJody Gunn\n\n\n\nCEO\, Australian Land Conservation Alliance \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJody is a conservation scientist with executive level management experience spanning over two decades. Jody’s career has included academia\, non-government and government organisations\, with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne\, Australia and a PhD from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge\, UK. Prior to joining Australian Land Conservation Alliance\, Jody was an Executive Manager for Bush Heritage Australia\, during which time she oversaw the expansion of Bush Heritage Australia’s Reserves and partnerships\, the delivery and expansion of a private land stewardship program on agricultural land\, and strengthened Aboriginal partnerships across Bush Heritage’s portfolios across south east Australia. Previous positions have included Joint Management planning for Parks and Wildlife Commission in the Northern Territory\, and Conservation Partnerships Manager for Fauna & Flora International.
