Peter Sainsbury is delighted to invite AEGN’s New South Wales members to an informal lunch at the offices of Minister Ellison to hear about the work of the Climate and Health Alliance in building a powerful health sector movement for climate action.

Hosted by Peter and featuring Climate and Health Alliance Founder and Executive Director Fiona Armstrong, and award winning journalist Paddy Manning, author of the recent book Bodycount: How climate change is killing us, this event will offer an insight into why the leadership of the health sector and health professionals on climate is critical, and how together we can elevate trusted health voices to accelerate climate action across society.

The climate crisis is a crisis for people’s health in Australia and globally. It’s already serious and it will get worse as the temperature rises. But unfortunately the health system is also a major emitter of greenhouse gases and a transition to a low carbon health system is urgently needed. The good news is that this
transition is doable and can improve health and reduce costs as well as help the environment.

Hear from Fiona about the work of the Climate and Health Alliance and its impact on local, state, and federal policy – and health sector action.

Hear from Paddy Manning about his new book, and the deeply personal impacts.
