School Strike 4 Climate Australia
Credit: School Strike 4 Climate Australia

Tuesday 29 September 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

In this first meeting of the reinvigorated climate change funder group join us to hear from one of Australia’s leading climate change policy thinkers, Professor Frank Jotzo from the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy. Professor Jotzo will discuss how the Federal Government’s recently announced Technology Investment Roadmap stacks up against what Australia needs to do to act on climate change. Professor Jotzo directs the Centre for Climate Economics and Policy, is joint editor-in-chief of the journal Climate Policy, and a lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 5th and 6th Assessment Reports.

In addition to hearing from Professor Jotzo, we will discuss how members and staff can better support you to effectively fund climate change work. In small groups you will meet other members and share current funding priorities and opportunities on the horizon. Together we will discuss what you need to grow the impact of your funding.

More about this funder group

The COVID-19 pandemic presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to reset the way we live, work, manufacture, farm and interact with nature. There is much work underway to see Australia take advantage of the low carbon opportunities we have at our fingertips and to become, in the words of Professor Ross Garnaut, “a low carbon superpower”.

Philanthropy has a crucial role to play in turning Australia from a laggard to a leader on climate action. Whether you are new to philanthropy or the AEGN, or you have been active for years, the climate change funder group is a platform for you to network, share approaches and hear from experts in the field about both the problems and solutions to the most significant environmental and social problem of our time.
