Countering the gas led recovery
Tuesday 11 August – 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
While Australia has a clear opportunity to capitalise on our bountiful renewable energy resources and existing technologies to become a low carbon superpower, setting up future generations with clean jobs and a healthy environment, there is a strong push to use the post COVID-19 economic recovery to further entrench our reliance on fossil fuels.
Join us to hear from two of Australia’s leading experts on transparent and accountable democratic process, social and economic policy and corporate responsibility as they share what can be done to counter the fossil fuel push – from shareholder activism, the power of consumer choice and legal avenues through to innovative investment, shifting the game with regulatory reform and working with the corporate sector to create ground-breaking new solutions. And explore the role that philanthropy can play in making this a success.
- Brynn O’Brien, Executive Director — Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility
- Dr Richard Denniss, Chief Economist — The Australia Institute
The session will be introduced and moderated by Sue McKinnon of the McKinnon Family Foundation.
