Simon began his career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley during the first dotcom wave and shortly after returning to Australia in 2001 built and sold Observant, a precision farm water management company.

He helped establish the Australian community energy movement, as founding chair of Hepburn Wind, the country’s first community-owned wind farm. Simon is senior advisor to the Energy Transition Hub at Melbourne University and writes regularly about all aspects of Australia’s energy revolution.
