Climate Lens Community of Practice
Back by popular demand, the Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network (AEGN) and Philanthropy Australia invite you to join our next Climate Lens Community of Practice.
The two month-long cohorts will run in March and May 2025, with the March cohort focusing on women and youth, and the May cohort focusing on health and well-being.
The series of online sessions on women and youth in March will bring together foundations and individual givers to explore how climate change deepens inequalities for women and young people—particularly those experiencing disadvantage—and how strategic philanthropy can drive equitable and impactful solutions.
The series in May will explore health and well-being, exploring philanthropic approaches to mitigating risks posed by climate change through supporting mental and physical health, and building resilience within communities.

Why join a Community of Practice?
Climate change compounds challenges across society, but it hits hardest where inequality already exists. For women, this includes increased risks of displacement, economic hardship, and gender-based violence, and for youth, the climate crisis threatens their futures while limiting their opportunities today. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation also contribute to poor health outcomes, exacerbating health inequalities.
At the same time, women and youth are leading powerful movements for change, and the philanthropic sector is well-placed to address health and well-being challenges posed by climate change. This community of practice will help you align your funding strategies to support adequate leadership, resilience, and equity in a changing climate.
This four-part series will be a collaborative space to:
- Share challenges, strategies, and insights with peers.
- Explore the unique ways climate change impacts women and youth, and separately health and well-being.
- Understand how funding decisions can incorporate a climate lens while simultaneously advancing gender equity and health outcomes.
Who should join?
These communities of practice are tailored to individual funders, staff of trusts and foundations, as well as Board directors of foundations. They are suitable for people at any stage of their giving journey – whether entirely new to philanthropy and climate, as well as those who are looking to refine their practice.

Hear from past participants:
Due to the skilled and very considered facilitation of the CoP, there was a great benefit in the depth of people sharing both experience and areas for improvement as well as vulnerabilities, which provided a safe space for professional and personal development.
I really enjoyed connecting with others passionate about this work – sessions were insightful and encouragement of connection and sharing was high by the facilitators.
