Nine out of ten AEGN members live on Australia’s eastern seaboard, yet some of the country’s most significant ecosystems and environmental challenges are located about 4000 kilometres due west.

Colin Smith – Chief Executive Officer, Lotterywest

Appointed in 2024, Colin Smith brings extensive executive leadership experience to his role as CEO of Lotterywest. Known for his ability to build strong corporate cultures, improve operations, and drive impactful outcomes for both clients and the community, Colin is committed to enhancing the prosperity and health of communities across Western Australia.

Prior to joining Lotterywest, Colin served in senior executive roles within both government and the private sector. He spent nearly 13 years at Synergy, where he held positions including Manager of Corporate Strategy Implementation and General Manager of Customer Experience. Colin has also been the Chief Operating Officer at the Telethon Kids Institute and has held roles at Tata Group and Bankwest.

With a broad skillset in strategy development and execution, organisational culture building, customer service, community engagement, and technology innovation, Colin is well-positioned to lead Lotterywest as it continues its mission to strengthen communities across both metropolitan Perth and regional WA.

Outside of work, Colin is passionate about mental health, and cycling is his go-to way to unwind and clear his mind. He’s taken part in numerous cycling trips, both locally and internationally, to maintain a healthy balance.
